Know the types

Los Angeles has four business models sitting under the word "salon", and they behave differently.

Traditional commission salons employ their stylists, run an assistant system, and share a front desk. They are the easiest place to book a colour correction, because a senior colourist can pull in help mid-appointment. Booth-rental and salon-suite buildings are the LA norm now: the address is a licensed establishment, but every chair inside is an independent stylist with their own pricing, own products and own cancellation policy.
